Narva branch of Ida-Virumaa Vocational Education Centre is the largest VET school in the town of Narva offering a wide range of vocational courses to over 1000 students both after basic and secondary school, as well as adult training courses to around 600 people annually.
The aim of Estonian VET system is to guarantee social and professional preparedness of young people to start their career and to prepare new skilled workers who are competitive both in Estonian and international labor market. And we have accordingly set our goal to provide high quality vocational training both for youth and adults focusing mostly on practical skills. We believe that modern vocational education should be available to people of all ages and interests.
Economic development of Estonia is quite rapid and it requires more technical specialists and professionals in the sphere of customer service.
We offer courses in the following areas:
- Energetics and automatics
- Business and commerce
- Mechanics and metalwork
- Textile work
- Food processing technology
- Tourism, hospitality and catering
Ida-Virumaa Vocational Education Centre takes an active part in the social development of Ida-Virumaa county. We cooperate with local businesses to develop curricula corresponding to their needs as well. The school provides also career counselling and social/psychological support to all the learners.
Besides, our school is quite active on the international level. In 2015 we were awarded the VET Mobility Charter 2015-2020 by Archimedes Foundation, as an acknowledgement of successful project management and internationalization strategy. We have set partnerships with VET schools and organizations in 12 different states both in EU and among the neighboring countries to implement projects which enable us to develop the professional skills and competences of our staff and enhance the employability of our learners.
